You should take classes you need for your research, graduation, career, general education, and fun. In addition to the obvious ones, I found the following classes of particular interest for students in our group:

  1. CSE: 423/823, 424/824, Complexity Theory, Graph Algorithms, other?

  2. Mathematics:
    • Math 450 Combinatorics, Math 452 Graph Theory
    • Math 850 Discrete Math I, Math 852 Discrete Math II. The 800-level courses are very tough classes, so don’t take them for a grade but with a pass/nopass option.
    • Math 432 Linear Optimization, Math 433 Nonlinear Optimization, Math 428 Operations Research

  3. Statistics: 801 (+lab), 802 (+lab), other?

  4. Journalism: News 498/898 Science writing

  5. For your ACE 9 requirements, take ETHN 330 Multicultural Education, it is a piece of (tasteless) cake.

Please feel free to recommend any other course.
